MI Ride for Life: A Success

An event sponsored by the Insurance Institute of Michigan and the Lansing Area Safety Council on April 26 to encourage young driver safety was well attended by Lansing area young drivers.

 
The one day event, which featured an alcohol simulator and seat belt convincer was funded by IIM and its members, Allstate, AAA Michigan, Farmers, Michigan Millers Mutual, MEEMIC, Pioneer STate Mutual and State Farm.

 
At the My Ride For Life event, over 200 teens and parents participated in the interactive driving activities, gathered inforamtion on driving safety and networked with other young drivers.  Attendees had hands-on experience on how alcohol impars driving, how seat belts save lives and how to share the roads with trucks.  Information was also provided on graduated licensing, auto insurance and driver skills.

 
Participating in the vent were: Ingham County Sheriff Department, Meridian Township Fire Department, Michigan Center for Truck Safety, Michigan Department of State, Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning, Allstate, AAA Michigan, Farmers Insurance, Lansing Area Safety Council, State Farm and Insurance Institute of Michigan.
