Peter Kuhnmuench, Executive Director

Prior to joining IIM on October 11, 2004, Kuhnmuench was Director of Legislative Affairs for the Auto Dealers of Michigan.  In this capacity, he represented both the Detroit Auto Dealers Association and the Michigan Automobile Dealers Association.
As Executive Director, Kuhnmuench will oversee the Association’s governmental affairs and communications functions.  He represents 40 property/casualty insurance company members that write more than $8 billion in annual premiums in Michigan. 
Kuhnmuench received a Bachelor of Art’s degree from Michigan State University and a Master’s of Public Administration from Western Michigan University. 

Dyck Van Koevering, General Counsel

Dyck Van Koevering is General Counsel of the Insurance Institute of Michigan.  In this capacity, he is responsible for monitoring and analyzing the approximately 300 bills that are introduced every session in the Michigan Legislature which affect IIM's members.  Dyck was previously General Counsel for the Michigan Insurance Federation.
Prior to joining the Association, Dyck served as Vice President of Governmental Relations for the Michigan League of Community Banks.  He also worked with the Michigan House of Representatives and with the Grand Rapids law firm of Boyden, Waddell, Timmons and Dilley.  He has several years' experience lobbying in Washington, DC.  Dyck is a graduate of Hope College and Thomas M. Cooley Law School. 

Lori Conarton, Communications Director

Lori Conarton is Communications Director for the Association.  In this capacity, she is responsible for development of member and consumer publications, media news releases, and oversees the website.
Prior to the merger, she was Communications Director for the Insurance Information Association of Michigan for 16 years.  She attended Ferris State University and has an Associate's Degree in Journalism.  She started her career as a weekly newspaper editor in Grand Ledge, Michigan. 

Julie Zdybel, Membership Director

Julie Zdybel is the Insurance Institute of Michigan's Membership Director.  Julie had been Operations Manager/Conference Planner for the Michigan Association for Local Public Health for the past 23 years.  At IIM, she is responsible for bookkeeping, meeting planning and member relations.  Julie is an avid tennis player, has coached high school tennis and captained adult team tennis.  She lives in Okemos with her two teenage children. 

Lesley Ford, Insurance Information Consultant

As the Insurance Information Consultant, Lesley oversees operation of the Insurance Information Hotline. Lesley helps the nearly 300 consumers who dial up the Hotline each month, responding to consumer inquiries, complaints and requests for assistance.
Lesley has been working in the insurance industry since 1988.  She was previously a commercial and personal lines Customer Service Representative in an independent agency, as well as for several direct writers.
